TCI has an immediate need for a Functional Software Engineer in Palm Bay, FL. This is not a Corp2Corp opportunity. This is a long-term contract opportunity with the possibility of hire. The Functional Software Engineer will support our Government/Military client.  As a Functional Software Engineer, one will be reviewing and assessing documentation to comply with Department of State and Department of Commerce International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Control Regulations (EAR). You will participate in reviewing and writing jurisdiction and classification records regarding scientific and technical matters relating to software design, development and manufacturing of products.

  • Review, assess and verify existing documented jurisdiction determination and associated technical documentation to determine regulatory (International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) accuracy. This includes preparing written draft and/or final jurisdiction and classification determinations in accordance with jurisdiction and classification policies, procedures, guidelines and work instructions (i.e., describe justification for determining the jurisdiction and classification).
  • Request more information from the division/business unit lead as necessary to complete task, including documenting in writing the rationale for jurisdiction determinations determined as not regulatory accurate.
  • Release the final records for use by the division to properly export, re-export and retransfer manufactured hardware, software, technical data and related defense services.
  • Bachelor Degree in a related field (Engineering or IT).
  • 2 - 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong technical acumen.
  • Expertise in identifying, evaluating, and analyzing complex technical information.
  • Program and/or project management experience.
  • Familiarity with key principles of systems engineering.
  • Experience in documenting, gathering and defining requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Some work experience with USG export and import laws and regulations.
