TCI has an immediate need for a Helpdesk Engineer in Melbourne, FL. This is not a Corp2Corp opportunity. This is a long-term contract opportunity with the possibility of hire. SUMMARY
The Helpdesk Engineer will support the Operations Center 24x7 operations by working in a team environment to handle all trouble tickets/calls, update procedures/documentation, inform management of status/problems, train fellow team members and customers, and stay informed of current items/changes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Handle all communications with external customers.
  • Provide 24x7 support -- includes both shift work and on-call support.
  • Support/coordinate on-site installs/upgrades done by the customer.
  • Perform installs/upgrades remotely on systems.
  • Instruct software and system personnel on user needs/wants, user abilities, etc.
  • Inform software and system personnel of new problems that arise with the software/systems being supported.
  • Assist software and system personnel with the identification/diagnosis of problem causes (root cause analysis).
  •  Author technical policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot all hardware, software, and system problems at the sites.
  • Handle all levels of solving the problem - in other words it is not escalated outside the helpdesk.
  • Database Administration support (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Instruct on-site users how to use and configure their systems.
  • Instruct on-site techs how to repair the system hardware.
  • Transmit user-critical/time-sensitive data to the customer sites.
  • Provide real-time monitoring of hardware and software.
  • Provide real-time monitoring of the sites via remote monitoring tools.
  • Build from scratch all site machines and perform testing.
  • Activate user services/accounts
REQUIREMENTS
  • 0-2 years related experience.
  • Bachelors degree in Information technology, Meteorology, Computer Science or related field; or 4+ years related experience with 2 years post-Secondary/AA-AS Degree; or 8+ years related experience with No Degree.
  • Unix (Solaris, HP) system administration.
  • Windows system administration.
  • Various LINUX-type operating systems.
  • Networking.
  • Monitoring tools (such as Zabbix and PRTG).
  • ORACLE and PostgreSQL database administration.
  • HP OpenView
  • Custom software/hardware.
  • Printers.
  • Data communications (satellite, modems, etc.).
