SUMMARY
The Information Security Systems Engineer will work in a multi-discipline environment to address security issues from a stakeholder protection needs, concerns, and requirements perspective and use established engineering processes to ensure that such needs, concerns, and requirements are appropriately addressed, early and in a sustainable manner throughout the life cycle of the system.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Information Security System Engineering support and technical execution of information security activities associated with the implementation of NIST-certified information system.
  • Provide Security Operations Engineering, including the design, testing, configuration, management and maintenance of enterprise security component systems (Firewalls, Routers, Switches, VPN, IDSs, Virus Scanning, etc.) within NIST-certified networks and systems with varying compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for coordinating and supporting annual risk assessments and follow on activities.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and delivery of security CDRL documentation.
  • Collaborate with system administrators to close Plan of Action and Milestone (POAM) items as required for enterprise programs.
  • Responsible for investigation/resolution of security events impacting the security architecture of the system.
  • Support Configuration development and Maintenance Requests (MRs) to onboard new or modified connections/flows through enterprise security gateways.
  • Assist in the development and CONOPS for emerging security technologies and proposals.
  • Support Compliance Certification and Vulnerability Assessments, as required.
  • Support the evaluation, qualification, testing and delivery of security architecture improvement, obsolescence replacement and vulnerability response projects in a multi-tenant/requirement environment.
  • Support Information Assurance (IA) data collection and continuous monitoring updates for assigned security architectures.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of experience in network security systems engineering fields (Firewalls, Routers, Switches, VPN).
  • BS/BA (or equivalent) degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT Security, or related field, and a minimum 3+ years related work experience.
  • Prior experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the network security domains.
  • 5+ years of experience in network security systems engineering and Information Assurance (IA) fields (customer facing).
  • Understanding of NIST and FISMA policies.
  • Strategic vulnerability management experience
  • Self-motivated individual, able to work well independently as well as within an inter-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess a current Public Trust Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain one prior to start.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Telecommunications network engineering experience.
  • SIEM content development and administration.
  • Experience in Cyber Defense technologies.
  • Understanding of attack / defense scenarios.
  • Understanding of system vulnerabilities and exploitation.
  • Understanding of zero trust and cloud computing concepts.
  • Preferred Certifications: Comp TIA Security+ certification; CISSP certification.
