TCI has an immediate need for a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer at Fort Knox, KY. This is not a Corp2Corp opportunity. This is a long-term contract opportunity with probable extensions and possible hire. This position requires a current Secret Security Clearance. REMOTE WORK POSSIBLE
The Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer will be responsible for accomplishing and performing installation and maintenance of applications in support of the US Army Enterprise, Datacenters, Application and Web Infrastructure. REMOTE WORK IS AVAILABLE.
  • Thorough knowledge of MVS operating system console commands. Also need knowledge of the JES2 console commands.
  • Well-rounded in MVS operating system components (security (RACF / ACF2), ENQ management, spool management, linklist, APF, TSO, SDSF, and such).
  • SMPE, knowledge of how to use to manage, install, and support system. Know how to run MISSINGFIX report, manage / maintain SMPE zones, RECEIVE / APPLY PTFs.
  • HCD, Hardware Configuration Dialog. Be able to create an IODF file and implement to the processor. Be able to modify the IODF to gen to use new tape and DISK hardware. Be able to create new LPAR. Understand CHPID / PCHPID relationships. Maintain system esoterics.
  • HMC, Hardware Management Console. Be able to use OSA support facility, maintain Image profiles, Load profiles, IPL, POR. Be able to provide Admin support for HMC users.
  • ShopZ, IBM tool to order software products and fixes. Be able to order software and SMPE RECEIVE ServerPac utilizing the USS method.
  • Problem determination. Have knowledge of tools (SDSF, RMF III, CA Sysview, IBM EXCEL (IBMLINK)) to determine where the issue is and how to resolve.
  • USS, Unix System Services. Have understanding as to concepts of USS. Be able to use OMVS and ISHELL. Be able to mount and unmount file systems. Understand and able to modify USS security parameters.
  • Automated operations. Our tool is CA OPS/MVS. Be able to maintain system operating rules and execs. Be able to troubleshoot systems issues within the OPS/MVS arena.
  • Performance and Tuning, Workload Manager and SYS1.PARMLIB. Have a thorough knowledge of PARMLIB members and how to modify. Be able to modify and implement the Workload Manager policy.
  • Be able to guide and support other members of the Mainframe team in relation to technical guidance concerning the mainframe system.
  • 3-5+ years of technical experience in IT or application software development projects in a Mainframe environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in maintaining MVS Environments and JES2 commands.
  • Completed Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other related fields is preferred.
  • Disaster Recovery experience, knowledge of computer room operations, Hardware installation support and some understanding of IP communications is required.
  • Knowledge of ISO/ITIL processes and documentation standards is desired.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a Security + Certification before start date.
  • Candidate must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Secondary related certification relevant to the computing environment (i.e. z/OS IBM System z and z/OS Fundamentals Mastery).
