Molecular Lab Manager

TCI has an immediate need for a Molecular Lab Manager for a Direct Hire opportunity in Louisville, KY
SUMMARY
The Molecular Lab Manager manages all aspects of the work performed in the business unit including but not limited to COVID-19 testing, waste water testing, qPCR QC testing of Oligos, NGS QC testing of Oligos.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring compliance with all accrediting agency requirements.
• Monitoring testing to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
• Handling interviews, hiring, and training of new staff. Scheduling shifts for lab employees.
• Performing preventative maintenance on equipment and instrument maintenance monitoring.
• Ability to develop new protocols and implement publicly available protocols quickly.
• Document writing and document control as needed by the lab director.
• Aligning laboratory projects and processes towards meeting company-wide goals.
• Analyzing needs for new equipment and assessing efficacy of proposed instrument acquisitions.
• Analyzing requests for new tests.
• Assuring that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
• In the event of non-conformance's, ensuring that results of test examinations are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
• Ensuring adequacy of training and competency assessment protocols in the labs.
• Annually evaluating and documenting the performance of all testing personnel.
• Reviewing Proficiency testing performance.
• Reviewing and releasing of results as needed.
• Serve as a mentor to laboratory staff.
• Promote interdepartmental cooperation toward meeting company-wide goals.
• Partner with laboratory operations director to promote a culture of trust and transparency and drive strategic initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS

• Meet 1 of the following combinations:
  • PhD in a chemical, physical or biological science + 2 years of experience in a CLIA accredited clinical laboratory in molecular.
  • Master’s degree in a chemical, physical or biological science + 3 years of experience in a CLIA accredited clinical laboratory, 2 of which must be in molecular.
  • Medical technologist + 4 years of experience in a CLIA accredited clinical laboratory, 2 of which must be in molecular.
• Willing to work 2nd or 3rd shift as needed.
• Working knowledge of Document Control system.
• Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Programs.
• Thorough understanding of CLIA, CAP, NYS regulatory requirements.
