TCI has an immediate need for a Network and Telecommunications Engineer in Rockwall, TX. This is not a Corp2Corp opportunity. This is a long-term contract opportunity with the probability of extension and possibility of hire. SUMMARY
The Network and Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for assisting in planning and implementing the necessary hardware, software, network and telecommunications equipment to maintain and/or enhance the local and wide-area networks
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement network policies and procedures and ensure adherence to security procedures.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain networks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve medium to complex network issues.
- Provide Tier III/IV support for staff; may require after-hours, on-call and phone or on-site support.
- Provide in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in the areas of design, installation, maintenance, and support of network infrastructure following established methodologies and processes.
- Perform hardware scans, analysis, and documenting findings.
- Support Logistics in creating documentations, Order requests and reach outs to various vendors.
- Support/facilitate customer meetings and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Perform extensive root cause analysis, problem determination and support of technical issues related to routing and switching technologies, e.g. SDWAN, BGP, MPLS BGP (From Customer’s perspective), load balancers, firewalls, etc.
- Utilize Juniper, Cisco, Aruba, or equivalent network equipment.
- Troubleshoot Layer-3, VPNs, OSPF, firewall policy, and VLAN management.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience is required. OR a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 3 years of prior related experience.
- Previous experience with routing & switching, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, routers, and firewalls.
- This is a 1st shift position; however, candidates must be open to working other shifts or on-call when necessary.
- Familiar with VPNs (IPSEC and GRE tunnel) implementation and VPN hardware.
- Familiar with SDWAN (Software Defined Wide Area Network).
- Proficient in QOS configuration and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience with High Availability Networks.
- Solid understanding of multicast concepts and practical failure analysis experience.
- Significant OSPF, BGP and multicast configuration and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with Linux command line SNMP and SNMP based Network Management tools (SNMP Managers, SevOne, etc.)
- Experience with bandwidth monitoring tools (Solarwinds, CA Spectrum, AKIPS etc.)
Netflow and NetFlow Analyzers (FlowTools, etc.). - Vendor certifications (i.e. Aruba, Cisco, Juniper, etc.) in routing and switching, firewall, IDS/IPS, and/or other network disciplines.
- Good fault isolation/identification skills and analytical skills.
- Familiar with IP Telephony, video teleconferencing technologies and call management (e.g. Cisco Call Manager).
- Experienced with wireless systems including access points, wireless LAN management, and wireless security implementations.
- Experienced with enterprise firewall architecture, operational support and configuration, e.g. Juniper, Cisco, and Palo Alto.
- Design and Implementation of network caching and wan optimization technologies.
- Experienced with Configuration Management, ClearCase, ClearQuest and Code Collaborator.
- Familiar with unit testing, integration testing and end-to-end system testing, writing test procedures, as well as formal and informal peer review processes.
- Able to work in environments with quality assurance including high levels of process control to ensure system safety and accuracy of deployments.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
