Job Description

TCI has an immediate need for a Network Engineer in Melbourne, FL.  This is not a Corp2Corp opportunity. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity.

NOTE:  This position requires US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance.

SUMMARY

The Network Planning Engineer who will support our large nationwide government/military client. One will conduct network architecture design, feasibility and modeling. Designs, analyzes, plans, and modifies network components and/or software by translating customer requirements and objectives into final product design. Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares the analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling.
  • Experienced professional with proficient knowledge of job area and practical knowledge of project management.
  • May manage projects or processes with general supervision.
  • Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Recommends enhancements to systems and processes.
  • Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years of network engineering experience with IP networks or, a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree with 4+ years relevant experience with IP networks.
  • Understand the fundamentals of IP Routing.
  • Understand what happens in detail from point A to point B in networking and able to explain it.
  • Good with at least one other protocol knowledge.
  • Supporting MPLS, BGP (Experience from Tmobile, Lumen, Verizon).
  • Experience configuring MPLS, ISIS, QoS, BGP, VPLS, AS prepending, route policies, and in-depth BGP troubleshooting and configuring (Route-leaking, BGP attributes (local preference and community’s)).
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance.

DESIRED (Nice-to-have) SKILLS

  • Large Fortune 500 experience.
  • VPN experience.
  • Experience with analysis and capacity planning and network architecture for large distributed communications systems.
  • Ability to plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks.
