Job Description
TCI has an immediate need for a Systems Engineer (Blue Coat) in Raleigh, NC or Eagan, MN. This is not a Corp2Corp opportunity. This is a long-term contract opportunity with the probability of extension and possibility of hire. RESPONSIBILITIES
- A deep technical understanding of Blue Coat Application Delivery Network technology pillars including Visibility, Acceleration, and Security solutions.
- Configure, administer, document HTTP proxy configurations and PAC file editing and deployment.
- Configure, administer, document DNS multi-view configuration.
- High level troubleshooting of network, protocols, and application issues.
- DNS and HTTP proxy administration.
- Bluecat API scripting in python.
- Creation of PAC files using Perl to generate JavaScript PAC function.
- Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
- Highly specialized in one or more phases of software systems development, systems integration, or network engineering.
- Acts independently under general direction. Provides technical assistance and advice on complex activities.
- Formulates / defines specifications, develops / modifies / maintains complex systems and subsystems, using vendor engineering releases and utilities for overall operational systems.
- Applies analytical techniques when gathering information from users, defining work problems, designing technology solutions, and developing procedures to resolve the problems.
- Develops complete specifications to enable computer programmers to prepare required programs.
- Analyzes methods of approach.
- Reviews task proposal requirements, gathers information, analyzes data, prepares project synopses, compares alternatives, prepares specifications, resolves processing problems, coordinates work with programmers and engineers, and orients users to new systems.
- Works with considerable freedom to make decisions on the techniques and approaches to be used. Prepares recommendations for system improvement for management and user consideration.
- Bachelors Degree in a related field and 10+ years of professional experience. 3+ additional years of related experience may be substituted for the Bachelors Degree.
- HTTP proxy configuration, integration, and administration expertise. Preferred Broadcom Bluecoat.
- DNS configuration, scripting of API calls. Preferred BlueCat Networks.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge in at least three major technology areas.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of corporate organization and policies.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/s and HTTP proxy.
- Knowledge of TCP, understanding network, protocol, and application traffic flows
- Ability to troubleshoot basic network issues including IPv6.
- Configure, administer, document custom Proxy and Proxy Pac file (Broadcom Bluecoat) technology solutions.
- High level troubleshooting of network and application issues.
- DNS, Proxy administration.
- Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
- Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
- Ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with co-workers.
- Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance prior to start.
