Job Description

TCI has an immediate need for a IT Systems Engineer in Shelbyville, KY.  This is a Contract-to-Hire opportunity and not available for Corp2Corp.
The Systems Engineer supports a critical infrastructure environment and keeps systems running at all times. The primary duties will include to manage, install and maintain the company IT Systems.  The ideal candidate will be able to configure and install complex information systems (including hardware and software), solid with VMWare Esx and managing storage (ideally using EMC).
  • Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks.
  • Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure. Monitors configuration and maintains data files.
  • This includes LAN/WAN, Exchange server, Internet connectivity, active director and group policy management and support.
  • Proactively ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Monitors and tests network and application resources and performance for potential bottlenecks, identifies possible solutions and works with developers to implement fixes.
  • Will also help support application software and system management tools.
  • Supports and manages servers and resolves issues as needed.
  • Works with vendors and other Information Systems team members to quickly and effectively provide problem resolution.
  • Modifies and repairs computer hardware and network configurations to maintain, enhance, and monitor system performance.
  • Installs patches and performs system backups and recovery.
  • Maintains and audits security, backup and redundancy strategy and monitors integrity of data.
  • Provides a secure and legal operating environment (anti-virus software and insuring compliance with software license requirements).
  • Executes disaster recovery plan to ensure business continuity.
  • Associate’s Degree in a related field plus 5 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of Layer 3 Network.
  • Strong troubleshoot skills with TCP/IP connectivity, and VMware/Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of Windows OS environment; managing Windows OS, Active Directory and Exchange and Microsoft Client (XP/10) and Server (2003/2008/2012/2016).
  • Ability to administer backup (use Veeam) devices.
  • Managing storage (use EMC).
  • Understanding of network security and monitoring.
  • Experience with Azure or AWS is a bonus.
  • Patch management is preferred.
